Hello! My name is Jessica Shindley. and I am so excited to be a part of Robein this year! This school year will be my 10th year of teaching, 3rd at Robein. After graduating from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, I moved back to my hometown of Washington, where I taught 3rd grade for a year. I then moved to London, England and taught 4th and 5th grades there. I spent the weekends and school breaks traveling Europe with my roommates, exploring all that Europe had to offer. Upon moving back to the US, I was a substitute teacher for a few months (I even subbed at Robein quite a few times!). Since then, I have taught first and fourth grades in the Chicago area. I graduated in 2014 with my Master's Degree in Education as a Reading Specialist, and I hope to use what I learned to help all students in my class excel in Reading.
My husband, David, works for the Special Olympics Illinois as the Director of Sports and Competitions, which brought us back to the area. In February, we welcomed our twins, Trey and Audrey, into our family. When I'm not at school, I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, coaching volleyball, and hanging out with my dog, Murphy, and my cat, Wally. I am an Alabama football fan (although in my house, I usually get stuck watching Notre Dame games), and my husband has converted me into an Atlanta Braves fan!
I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students and their parents this year. Go Rockets!
